The One Show star Sam Quek has revealed she is expecting her second child, while co-host Jermaine Jenas has confirmed the birth of his baby boy.

On tonight's episode (October 11) of The One Show, host Ronan Keating shared that Jenas had welcomed his new baby son Jacob at the weekend, his first son with his wife Ellie Penfold.

"We're delighted to kick off the week with some happy news," Ronan told viewers. "First off, congratulations to our very own Jermaine and his wife Ellie who had a baby boy called Jacob at the weekend.

"Enjoy some time off with the family, JJ – no sleep for you!"

Jenas already has two daughters with Ellie – eight-year-old Geneva and four-year-old Olivia – as well as his daughter Sancha from a previous relationship.

After sharing Jermaine's happy news, Ronan also turned to his co-host Sam Quek and asked whether she had anything she wanted to share too.

"I do. Staying on the baby front, I am 17 weeks pregnant!" she said. "Exciting times. Going to be a busy Mumma in the next few weeks."

The gold medal-winning Olympian welcomed her first baby, Molly, with husband Tom Mairs in March this year.

Sam, who was recently cast as a team captain on BBC's sports quiz show Question of Sport, also discussed her baby news with OK! in a new interview, saying: "We were shocked but we're so excited!

"But because of previous experiences, I never like to get too excited until we’ve had our 12-week scan."

The couple has previously opened up about experiencing a miscarriage shortly before Sam fell pregnant with Molly, and Sam has discussed having a traumatic caesarean with daughter Molly too.

In the interview, husband Tom also shared his reaction after Sam told him the good news: "She came home that day and was really quiet, and I was like, 'Are you OK?' and she just pulled out this whole handful of pregnancy tests. It was like a Wolverine claw but with pregnancy tests!"

The One Show presenter Alex Jones also recently welcomed a baby girl in August, named Annie. Annie is Alex's third child with husband Charlie Thomson, having previously given birth to two sons: Ted and Kit.

Jones is currently still on maternity leave, but popped back to the show for a special appearance in September to unveil 'The BBC One Show and RHS Garden of Hope' at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show.

The One Show airs on BBC One.
