In a cute and concise post, he wrote "She said yeah", captioning a selfie of the couple in a kitchen. Both are smiling, with Alexandra flashing her shiny new engagement ring as she wraps her arm around her husband-to-be.
Lafferty played basketball star, father and (incidentally) husband Nathan Scott for the entire run of the show. One Tree Hill ran for nine seasons, from 2003 to 2012. He also made an appearance in season one of Haunting of Hill House in 2018.
He reportedly met Alexandra on the set of fictionalised British royal family drama The Royals – in which she starred and he directed a span of episodes in the second season.
The two have kept their romance relatively private, with Alexandra first posting a photograph of the two together in 2018 and crediting One Tree Hill cast member Stephen Colletti as photographer.
It was in that same year that The Royals came to an end, with Alexandra making a heartfelt and emotional post to Instagram, thanking the cast and crew, as well as fans for the ride.
"My heart is in a hundred pieces, but it's smiling. Smiling at each and every one of you, smiling at the once in a lifetime lessons I have learnt, both personally and professionally. Smiling at the cast and crew who took me under their wings...
"I came into this thing as a 24 year old timid (but loud and sometimes annoyingly eager) girl who had dreamed of this opportunity for her entire life… and let me tell you, the real thing entirely eclipsed the dream. The dream was like a rehearsal for the real thing."
One Tree Hill is available to watch on Amazon Prime.
