One Tree Hill star Jana Kramer has opened up about the sometimes-tense atmosphere behind the scenes on the show, revealing that one unnamed person "made it hell" for others on set.
Speaking on the latest episode of the podcast she hosts with her husband Michael Caussin, Whine Down with Jana Kramer and Michael Caussin, Kramer revealed ahead of a reunion chat with her One Tree Hill co-stars James Lafferty and Stephen Colletti that they hadn't always had a chance to be so close.
Before Lafferty and Colletti appeared on the podcast, Kramer – who played Alex Dupre on the show – told Caussin that being a late arrival on the iconic teen drama had been difficult for her as, when she arrived for season seven, dynamics had already been established on set.
"When I was on the show... there was just some, not cattiness, but just like, 'You can't talk to this person if you're friends with this person'," she said. "So I wasn't very close to James because of certain situations on the set at the time."
Adding that another reason she felt less close to Lafferty was because they didn't share scenes together often, she confirmed that her friendships with her former co-stars are now much stronger.
"But now, I mean everyone is really close, and it's kind of frustrating because I'm like, 'Why couldn't we have all been friends then? And you made the newbies' life a little bit of hell'," the actress said, addressing the unnamed person who had created tension. "But it's cool."
Kramer added that although she is happy to have close relationships with her fellow One Tree Hill stars now, she still feels frustration that somebody made things so difficult for others at the time.
"Now it's like, annoying because they're all like, 'We're all friends now' and I'm just like, 'You, one person, literally made it hell for us, because if we chose the wrong friend, we would be destroyed'," she said.
Kramer didn't reveal the identity of the mystery person who made things "hell", but it seems that things are definitely more harmonious since the show ended in 2012.
One Tree Hill also starred Chad Michael Murray, Sophia Bush, Bethany Joy Lenz and Hilarie Burton and focused on the up-and-down relationship between basketball playing half-brothers Nathan (Lafferty) and Lucas Scott (Murray) and the tangled love lives of their friendship group.
