One-way order on busy Taunton town centre route for urgent water repairs

A busy route into Taunton town centre will be temporarily one-way this evening for urgent water repairs. A number of properties in Corporation Street do not have any water and Wessex Water need to resolve this issue.

To facilitate this, a one-way order will be in effect on Corporation Street from 7pm on Thursday evening (June 6). The Parade Roundabout towards Park Street and The Crescent will also be closed to traffic.

A diversion will be in place using Fore Street, East Street and the A38. It is hoped the works will be completed this evening, but Travel Somerset has warned the repairs could run into Friday (June 7).

In an "urgent traffic update", Travel Somerset shared: "Wessex Water need to restore the supply to several properties in Corporation St. That means there will be a one-way order in effect on the road from 7pm.

"Traffic can't go from The Parade Roundabout towards Park Street and The Crescent. A diversion will be in place using Fore Street, East Street and the A38.

"Additional signage will also be placed at the Wood Street junction to inform drivers. The works are expected to complete this evening but may run in to tomorrow - please plan ahead."
