The only way was incarceration for Gemma Collins who swapped her leopard print kaftan for dowdy overalls on a trip to Litchfield prison.

The reality TV star – who became a meme sensation the last time she wore orange – dropped by the set of Orange is the New Black to offer up some top tips on staying sassy and having style while serving time.

Collins hung out with Uzo Aduba, Danielle Brooks, Adrienne C. Moore and Jessica Pimentel who play Crazy Eyes, Taystee, Cindy and Ruiz respectively, ahead of the launch of season six.

“Girls, I hear you talking. Yes I am the Queen of England, but you can call me Gemma,” she said as she introduced herself to the inmates before taking herself off to what she thought was a gym class teaching squats.

The TOWIE favourite said she feared she would be hanging out in a “real-life prison”, but quickly discovered the actresses work on a set designed to look like a real-life prison.

“I’ve always loved Orange is the New Black and getting to visit the set and hang out with the girls was an absolute blast,” she said. “Those ladies know how to have a good time and are my sort of people.

“I was a bit nervous thinking I was going into a real-life prison, but it was all good. The sets were so realistic and once you see everyone in their costumes you forget you’re in a giant studio.”

Collins said she has invited the stars to Gemma’s Boutique as well as promising a night out at infamous Essex jaunt, Sugar Hut, should they ever find themselves in the English county.

She said:“From the jungle to Big Brother, I've experienced my fair share of incarceration - to be honest, this was the most fun! I've told the ladies, the next time they're in the UK, they're coming to Gemma's Boutique then off to Sugar Hut for a night on the tiles.”

Collins sent fans into a frenzy on Tuesday night after she teased fans with a glamorous mugshot of herself alongside the words: “We’re not in Essex anymore.”

She tweeted: “Orange has always been my favourite colour.”

The new series will see the inmates banged up in maximum security after taking over the prison and holding staff members hostage in the wake of Poussey’s death.
