Open date revealed for Grand Central restaurant as American burger joint moves to Birmingham

An opening date has been revealed for huge American burger chain Shake Shack in Grand Central. We learnt back in the summer that the New York brand had set its sights on Birmingham city centre, settling on the former @Pizza unit above busy New Street train station.

Now it has been revealed that Shake Shack will launch on December 10. The chain is known for having 'the best burgers', as well as hand-spun milkshakes and cheese fries.

The restaurant will be the first branch of Shake Shack in the region. It started off as a food van in New York City before expanding worldwide, with restaurants in London as well as Oxford and Cardiff.

When Grand Central first announced it would be opening, Brummies reacted with excitement. On Instagram, Renata Monteiro commented: "OMG I LOVE YOU BULLRING! YOU ARE ON FIRE! Prepare my room, because I will live there!"

Banita wrote: "Excited for this one!" and Amelia added: "Best. News. Ever!!!!" Lorretta commented: "Bullring is killing it at the moment!! So many great brands!"

The Bullring has had a number of new brands moving in in recent weeks with Sephora, PureSeoul and SDMN among the new launches. Grand Central hasn't had the same flurry of activity with empty units still dominating the end of the centre where Kitty Cafe remains.
