Billed as an 'immersive sensorial experiment', Slow Pixel will see 176 snails take centre stage at Kings Place next year – and yes, we do mean those slimy gastropods you find eating the garden plants.

The rather unusual cast will be performing in a specially constructed habitat conducted by French artists Elizabeth Salnt-Jalmes and Cyril Leclerc. Expect eerie snail sounds and creepy choruses.

As if things couldn't be any weirder, Saint-Jalmes and Leclerc will be putting miniscule lamps on the shells of each of the avant-garde slimers. Before passing judgement on the £4.50 experience, just remember, it's all in the name of, er, art.

The operatic performance is part of Sonica, a daring sound and arts festival which will take over King's Cross in April 2018. Other installations include a laser light storm and a psychedelic robot laboratory, Infinite Lives.

Whatever you decide to see, it's bound to give you shell shock.

Slow Pixel will be at Kings Place, N1 9AG. Tickets cost £4.50 and can be booked here
