Peace out, Litchfield. A first-look at Orange Is the New Black's sixth season confirms that the Netflix series is headed to an all-new prison.

A teaser out last week promised that fans could expect "a whole new world" in the upcoming episodes, and the release of the show's updated title sequence on Wednesday (June 13) hammered that point home:

Netflix also offered fans a guided tour of the new facilities of this new prison in a series of first-look photos on Wednesday, too. This maximum security lockdown facility is definitely a far cry from the small-time comforts of Litchfield.

The writing was on the wall for relocation of the Litchfield inmates last season when their prison riot went south, leaving Piper (Taylor Schilling) and Alex (Laura Prepon) helpless to do anything but watch as armed SWAT team guards stormed the prison to re-take control.

Fans, and even the cast, are hoping for a rebound following a fifth season that even Orange Is the New Black creator Jenji Kohan likened to "fan fiction."

"We had lost a bunch of the original writers," co-producer Tara Herrmann added. "It wasn't anyone's fault. It was just a new dynamic – people were attached to the characters as viewers, not as creators."

As a result, Kohan has retooled the writing staff to bring back only a pair of the season five writers to work with a fresh staff, including novelist Merritt Tierce.

Orange is the New Black premieres on Netflix worldwide on July 27, 2018.
