A brand new trailer for upcoming BBC drama Ordeal by Innocence has been released – and there's no sign at all of Ed Westwick.

Westwick, who was originally due to play one of the main characters in the drama, was removed despite having already completed his scenes.

The decision was taken following an allegation of rape and an allegation of sexual assault against the former Gossip Girl star, both of which he denied.

A number of scenes in the Agatha Christie adaptation were reshot as a result, with actor Christian Cooke taking over Westwick's role as Mickey Argyll.

Other cast members, including Bill Nighy, Eleanor Tomlinson, Luke Treadaway and Morven Christie, can also be seen in the new trailer.

The crime drama was originally due to air over Christmas, but it was delayed following the allegations against Westwick.

Westwick has vowed to clear his name, saying: "It is disheartening and sad to me that as a result of two unverified and provably untrue social media claims, there are some in this environment who could ever conclude I have had anything to do with such vile and horrific conduct.

"I have absolutely not, and I am cooperating with the authorities so that they can clear my name as soon as possible."

No air date for Ordeal by Innocence has been announced, but it looks like it will be premiering very soon.

Ordeal by Innocence sees a young man named Jacko accused of murdering his adoptive mother Rachel – but when an alibi suddenly turns up, the other members of the family begin to suspect each other of being the real killer.
