Ore Oduba has spoken out about Joanne Clifton's shock departure from Strictly Come Dancing.

News broke yesterday (June 21) of the dancer's decision to quit the show along with fellow professionals Oksana Platero and Natalie Lowe.

During an appearance on Good Morning Britain today, Ore explained why his former pro partner decided to leave after winning the series with him last year.

"I've known about this for a while," he admitted. "Here is a girl who has achieved such great things in everything she's done; she was world ballroom champion, she won the Strictly glitterball trophy and now she is embarking on a new adventure.

"She is going to be in the West End! She is going to be absolutely smashing it night after night on stage and we are all so proud of her.

"What she has done is so brave, jumping off a great show like Strictly into this new world. We are wishing her all the best."

Good Morning Britain presenters Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard then quizzed Ore about rumours currently circulating about the new series of Strictly.

Without giving too much away, Ore admitted he could relate to what the new line-up would be going through emotionally as speculation grows around who will be competing this year.

He added: "It's mad because you have this empathy of how everyone is feeling about this time.

"I remember this time 12 months ago, everything wasn't quite signed and sealed so you have all these emotions and you have to keep it in because it's all top, top secret."

Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays from 6am on ITV.
