Orlando Bloom changes tattoo after misspelling son's name

Orlando Bloom has revealed an amended version of a recent tattoo he got in honour of his son Flynn after the nine-year-old’s name was spelled incorrectly.

Last week, Bloom shared a photo of his new forearm tattoo on Instagram that spelt Flynn, in Morse code, in addition to his birth date, 1 June 2011, 09.03am.

However, some of the actor’s eagle-eyed followers spotted an error, as the Morse code design for the letter ‘L’ was missing a dot, meaning the tattoo accidentally read as “Frynn”.

At the time, Bloom’s tattoo artist, Balazs Bercsenyi, acknowledged the mistake on Instagram and explained that it would be rectified.

On Wednesday, the Lord of the Rings star revealed the updated version with a new post on his Instagram account alongside the caption: “Finally dot it right! How do you make a mistake like that? #pinterestfail (read the small print” followed by a laughing emoji.

Bloom also included the morse code translation of each letter of the alphabet and a photo of another which featured a picture of a dog with the word “SIDI” written in block letters.

The tattoo was in memory of Bloom’s dog, who passed away in 2016 after a long struggle with liver disease.

“Fortunately I know how to spell Sidi. Forever my boy,” Bloom ended the caption.

Bercsenyi also shared an image of the amended tatoo writing: “Round 2 with @OrlandoBloom.”

“We added the missing dot to the morse code, and did a small one in memory of Sidi, his dog and conclusion: never fully trust what your clients find on Pinterest and life is officially back to normal.”

Bloom shares his son with his ex-wife, model Miranda Kerr. The couple were married in 2010 before divorcing three years later.

Last year, Bloom and Katy Perry announced their engagement following an on-off relationship that spanned more than two years.

Perry later revealed that Bloom proposed to her on Valentine’s Day, telling American talk show host Jimmy Kimmel that she thought it was “really sweet”.

“We went to dinner and I thought we were going to go see some art after dinner, but we pulled up to a helicopter,” the singer said.

“We had champagne in the helicopter and the box was in his pocket, and he had written down everything he wanted to say in a note.”

After they landed on a rooftop, the celebrations continued as Perry was surprised by her whole family and close friends eagerly awaiting the couple's arrival.
