Oswego Braces for 'Long' Lake-Effect Snow Event

Snow fell on parts of upstate New York as a winter storm threatened heavy snow accumulation by the end of the weekend, the National Weather Service (NWS) said on Thursday, November 17.

Meteorology student Garrett Statum said he took this video in Oswego on Thursday morning. The NWS had alerted to a “nearly stationary” band of heavy snow from Oswego to Altmar on Thursday.

Initial reports measured more than six inches of snow already on the ground in Oswego County.

The “long event” with “heavy lake-effect snow” would stretch through the weekend, the NWS said. Credit: Garrett Statum via Storyful
