A London art fair will exhibit works by more women than men for the first time. Judges for the 20th The Other Art Fair — which has expanded to New York, San Francisco and Sydney — selected 51 per cent female artists to go on show at The Old Truman Brewery in Brick Lane.

A panel, including Jonathan Yeo and Serpentine Gallery curator Rebecca Lewin, picked 130 artists for the event, which typically sees around 1,500 works sold.

Rising stars chosen include Iceland-born Kristjana S Williams, 42, who lives and works in Brentford and creates circular globe-like images of the capital.

Ms Williams said: “I think the energy within women in London is really strong and it’s very equal and inspirational here.”

The Other Art Fair, presented by Saatchi Art, October 5 to 8. Tickets cost £8 with £6 for concessions
