Moana star Auli'i Cravalho's Oscars performance made her our new hero.

The 16-year-old singer and actress showed grace under fire in front of the biggest stars in Hollywood and millions watching around the world when her performance went, well, wrong.

Auli'i, who voices the title character in Disney's Moana, was delivering a spine-tinglingly beautiful version of the Best Original Song nominee 'How Far I'll Go' surrounded by dancers whirling around flags.

And wouldn't you know...one those flags walloped poor Auli'i in the back of the head. Now, we'd probably be crying and throwing a televised hissy fit – but Auli'i just kept going after a brief grimace.

Auli'i's poise made her a hero to those watching home – including fellow Disney princess (and Mulan star) Ming-Na Wen, Modern Family's Jesse Tyler Ferguson and other Hollywood stars on Twitter.

"Bravo, @auliicravalho! Beautiful voice, stunning beauty, total pro to continue even after that bop in the head by the flag," Ming-Na chimed in on Twitter.

Jesse Tyler cheekily teased on his own account: "Getting slapped by a blue flag while singing on the oscars keeps one humble."

The teen was joined on stage by Moana songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda, who thankfully avoided any flag-bashing during his rap. Sadly, Auli'i wasn't rewarded with an Oscar either – the Best Original Song prize went to 'City of Stars' from La La Land.
