Amanda Owen says 'we have to weather any storm' after split from Clive

Our Farm Next Door's Amanda Owen has opened up about life after her split from husband Clive, joking that they went through a "conscious uncoupling" and saying that "not really a right lot has changed" between them.

The Our Yorkshire Farm stars broke up in 2022 after 22 years of marriage but they are working on a new Channel 4 series together. It follows them as they restore a derelict building near their Ravenseat Farm, which they hope will be a base for them and their nine children: Raven, Reuben, Miles, Edith, Violet, Sidney, Annas, Clementine and Nancy.

In the latest episode on Monday, 28 October, Amanda told how it had been an "incredibly hard" time but stressed the importance of being able to "weather any storm".

What, how and why?

The episode documented a tough period in which the Owens' new property — Anty John's — needed its roof fitted. However, progress was slow and continued over the winter, which Amanda said left her feeling "helpless" as there was little she could do to speed things up. "I need it to move on," she said.

Reflecting on what they were going through, she said it had been a tough period.

"Last year has been incredibly hard in so many respects," she said.

In a nod to the term Gwyneth Paltrow used to describe her split from Chris Martin in 2014, she added: "For me and Clive particularly, thinking about us and our relationship, our conscious uncoupling, that's what you'd say if we were in Hollywood. Not really a right lot has changed — in other words I’m still doing his washing, still making his tea.

"It’s important that particularly the younger kids can see the stability and the friendship that we do have. Doing this renovation, it's given us another avenue."

She went on: "We’ve always joked about being able to weather any storm, and when I said that, I was kind of meaning meteorologically. But we have to weather any storm that there is going out there. There is obviously nothing that we can't get through, that's kind of our mantra.

"When the going gets tough, the tough get going. That's what they say isn't it? So that's what we are trying."

Amanda previously addressed the split as the new show started, saying she and Clive were “separate” although they are still married.

She said they had “got through” their hard year and both made it clear that while they are no longer a couple they are parenting and working on their latest project together.
