Outlander cast shares emotional farewell at final season read-through in iconic castle
The stars of Outlander have disclosed this week marked the very last table read for the concluding section of season eight's filming.
Cast members had taken to social media to share glimpses of their final script reading session, which was held in a historic castle near Edinburgh, along the coast.
Their final meeting was on Monday, August 12, at Barnbougle Castle, where they gathered for the last read-through.
The acclaimed series, which has shot scenes throughout Scotland, recently marked its 10-year anniversary, with its first episode debuting in 2014.
There were sightings earlier in the year of the cast and crew working on an Outlander prequel series filming within Scottish landscapes, reports Edinburgh Live.
This new chapter in the Outlander saga, titled "Outlander: Blood of My Blood," is set to interweave two intense love stories from different eras one chronicling the lives of Jamies parents and the other, Claires forebears.
Caitriona Balfe, renowned for her role as Claire Fraser, expressed her emotions on Instagram, posting: "Here we are... 11 years, 101 episodes and a whole lotta love, sweat and tears (and some blood) ... thank you @outlander_starz and all the rest of our cast and crew and fans.... It's been a journey and a half."
The actress shared this heartfelt message alongside a video that captured the poignant mood as the cast shared laughs at their ultimate script gathering.
Sam Heughan, known to fans as Jamie Fraser, Claire's husband, also took to Instagram, revealing his sentiments with a post that read: "Final readthrough. Final block. Final season."
He shared some photos, including one of the script for the final ever season of Outlander, but was careful not to reveal any spoilers.
Sophie Skelton, who plays Brianna, posted a photo on Instagram of her and her dog at Barnbougle Castle in South Queensferry with the caption: "Bring your dog to final read-through day".
