Outlander spills hidden details behind ‘unforgettable fight scene’ in midseason premiere
Outlander’s latest behind-the-scenes insight has lifted the lid on one of the most highly-anticipated scenes of season seven’s stunning return last Sunday.
After a wait of more than a year, the latest adventures of Claire (played by Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) finally continued and saw the Frasers returning to Scotland.
In the midseason premiere, Unfinished Business, Jamie is compelled to visit his volatile old flame Laoghaire MacKenzie (Nell Hudson) to apologise for their loveless marriage.
However, things quickly get out of hand as Laoghaire attacks her ex-husband with a pitchfork, forcing her doting farmhand, Joey Murray (Sandy Jack) to step in.
Thankfully, no one was seriously harmed in the skirmish, including the actors who had an expert stunt and choreography team to ensure there were no injuries.

A new clip released on the drama’s official Instagram page reveals everyone did their own fighting and all the stage falls were cushioned by landing pads.
The caption reads: “How to make an unforgettable fight scene: Landing pads, brilliant choreography, an impeccable bucket toss by @nell.hudson and the cat-like reflexes of @samheughan.”
Fans were thrilled by the sneak peek at Outlander’s TV magic and it’s clear that Jamie and Laoghaire’s reunion is already one of the highlights of season seven, part two.
One viewer commented: “Their facial expressions... The saddened eyes that connected... Sam's low gentle voice 'aye'... All of the physical interaction between them is stellar!!”
“He finally admitted to her what he should have said in S1 Ep 9. This scene was amazing,” someone else replied.
“Brilliantly delivered scene by both Nell and Sam,” a third fan wrote.
And another joked: “What I was thinking while watching it: ‘He survived all those battles, it would be super ironic if SHE killed him’.”
While a final fan said: “I didn’t realize that I needed this fight but it was the right ending of this relationship. Great job @nell.hudson and @samheughan!”
Jamie may be back on his native soil, but it didn’t take long for the Frasers to be separated once again after Claire receives a letter from Lord Grey (David Berry) asking for her help in treating his brother’s gunshot wound.
Meanwhile, Roger MacKenzie’s (Richard Rankin) quest back in time finds him face-to-face with Geillis Duncan (Lotte Verbeek), leaving fans on the edge of their seats for what’s to come next.
Outlander season seven part two premieres on Friday, November 22, on MGM+ via Prime Video in the UK and on Starz in the US.
