Outlander stars Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish tease unaired Men in Kilts scenes

Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham stars Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish have teased some of the material consigned to the cutting room floor.

The Outlander stars teamed up for a travel series exploring Scotland's culture and history – but not everything made it through the final edit.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Heughan said: "So much, we had to drop a lot. We shot a lot of material before we pitched the show, so some of that material isn't in there – there's just stuff we didn't fit in."

McTavish added: "A lot of [the cut scenes] figure around castles, I suppose, so the visit to Cawdor Castle, meeting Lady Cawdor, seeing the 1623 folio of Shakespeare's complete works on her table just like it was a newspaper that happened to be there.

"Meeting the Lochiel of Clan Cameron, seeing the actual battle flag that had been rescued from the battlefield, the sword that was used by the clan chief... It's heartbreaking how we weren't able to include everybody, and it was just impossible. There was too much."

Other than medieval architecture and curios, a great deal of the pair's "banter in the camper van" had to be removed.

"It was great, but we didn't have time for it all," said Heughan.
