'Over £100k worth of stock' stolen in raid on sportswear warehouse

A young entrepreneur said he was "shocked" after his business was broken into and "over £100k" of stock stolen. Dane Kenyon owns sportswear retailer Drip Supply UK with his friend Paddy Hewitt who he has known since he was three years old.

Dane, 22, started the company when he was 18 "as a side job". He told the ECHO: "I eventually decided to do it full-time. I ran it from my mum’s spare bedroom at first and we grew from there." The company, which sells active clothing online, saw its Wigan warehouse targeted last Thursday night (September 5).

Dane described the moment he found out saying: “We were working late on Thursday night and when we got back at 10am the following morning, everything had gone. I was shocked and couldn’t believe it. This is several people’s livelihoods and no-one is working now.

“We don’t know what to do now, everything is uncertain. We lost over £100k worth of stock. We’ve dedicated so much time to the business, worked hard, missed out on life and relationships and it feels like it’s all for nothing. It’s two hours [for the thieves] but it's four or five years for us."

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Officers are investigating following reports of a commercial burglary at a premises on Bradley Lane, Wigan. It is believed the burglary took place over the night of September 5 into September 6. Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 1034 of 6/9/24."
