Overnight closures on Kent A2, A249, M20, M2 and M25 this week

Road works will be taking place across Kent’s major motorways and A-roads this week, impacting journeys around the county at various times. Once again, overnight closures have been scheduled for the M20 over the coming weekend.

On Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16 the westbound carriageway of the M20 will shut between Junction 7, for Maidstone and Detling, and Junction 5, for the Aylesford Interchange. This stretch of the motorway will be closed on both nights between 8pm and 6am for bridge works.

Then on Sunday, November 17 the M20 eastbound will close from Junction 8, for Leeds Castle, and Junction 9 for Ashford. Again this closure will take place from 8pm to 6am and will allow carriageway works to be completed.

Alongside this, there will be closures on the A249 in Sittingbourne between the Sheppey Crossing and Key Street throughout the week. Drivers are also contending with disruptive temporary lights on Grovehurst Road as part of ongoing junction improvement works, full details of which can be found here .

Monday, November 11

  • The A2 eastbound Merry Chest entry slip will shut from 8pm to 6am for improvement works.

  • The A21 northbound will close from Vauxhall Lane to Morleys Road roundabout between 8pm and 6am for structural works.

  • The A21 will close in both directions between Kipplings Cross and Forstal roundabout from 8pm to 6am for maintenance.

  • The A249 northbound will close between Key Street and Grovehurst from 8pm to 6am for drainage works.

  • The A249 southbound will shut between the Sheppey Crossing and Key Street from 8pm to 6am for drainage works.

  • The M20 westbound Junction 6 to Junction 5 distributor road will shut from 8pm to 6am for bridge works.

  • The M20 westbound Junction 6 exit slip to entry slip distributor road is closed until 6am on November 28 for bridge works.

  • The M25 anti-clockwise Junction 1a entry slip will be shut from 10pm to 5.30am for tunnel works.

  • The M25 anti-clockwise Junction 3 entry slip will shut from 10pm to 5am for urgent technology works.

Tuesday, November 12

  • The A2 eastbound Merry Chest entry slip will shut from 8pm to 6am for improvement works.

  • The A21 northbound will close from Vauxhall Lane to Morleys Road roundabout between 8pm and 6am for structural works.

  • The A21 northbound will close from Vauxhall Lane to Morleys Road roundabout between 8pm and 6am for structural works.

  • The A249 southbound will shut between the Sheppey Crossing and Key Street from 8pm to 6am for drainage works.

  • The A249 northbound will close between Key Street and Grovehurst from 8pm to 6am for drainage works.

  • The M2 eastbound Junction 6 exit slip will shut from 9pm to 6am for horticulture works.

  • The M2 eastbound Junction 5 exit slip will close between 8pm and 6am for improvement works.

  • The M20 westbound Junction 6 exit slip to entry slip distributor road is closed until 6am on November 28 for bridge works.

  • The M20 westbound will close from Junction 7 to Junction 5 between 8pm and 6am for bridge works.

Sunday, November 17

  • The A21 southbound Sevenoaks exit slip will close from 8pm to 6am for structure works.

  • The A21 northbound junction Westerham entry slip will shut between 10.30pm and 5am for structure inspections.

  • The A249 southbound will shut between Bobbing and Stockbury from 8pm to 6am for improvement works.

  • The M20 eastbound will close between Junction 8 and Junction 9 from 8pm to 6am for carriageway works.
