Overnight closures on M6, M54, M5 and M42 heading into the weekend

Overnight closures will be taking place on parts of the West Midlands motorway network heading into the weekend. There will be carriageway and slip road closures on the M6, M54, M5 and M42.

Drivers heading along the M6 northbound tonight are set to face delays when the northbound carriageway will close between junction 7 Great Barr and junction 10 Walsall for resurfacing work. The carriageway will shut at 9pm this evening (November 8) heading the weekend before reopening at 6am tomorrow morning (November 9).

Meanwhile, the M54 eastbound carriageway between junction 6 Telford and junction 5 Ketley Bank will also shut. Here are all the overnight closures in the region on Friday night (November 8).

Friday

  • M6 northbound junction 7 Great Barr to junction 10 Walsall: Carriageway slip road closed for carriageway resurfacing work on Friday (November 8) between 9pm and 6am. Diversions will be in place.

  • M6 junction 9 Wednesbury: Southbound on slip closed for technology works on Friday (November 8) between 9pm and 6am. Diversions will be in place.

  • M54 eastbound junction 6 Telford to junction 5 Ketley Bank: Carriageway closed for maintenance work on Friday (November 8) between 8pm and 6am. Diversions will be in place.

  • M54 junction 5 Ketley Bank: On slip closed for maintenance work on Friday (November 8) between 8pm and 6am. Diversions will be in place.

  • M5 northbound link: Link road to the M6 northbound at junction 8 closed for carriageway resurfacing on Friday (November 8) between 9pm and 6am. Diversions will be in place.

  • M42 southbound junction 8 Coleshill: Link road to M6 junction 4a Water Orton closed for HS2 works on Friday (November 8) between 9pm and 5am. Diversions will be in place.
