Overnight road closure planned as part of final works for Cambs developments
An overnight closure is planned along a Cambridgeshire road this week. Cambridge Road, north of Wintringham, will undergo a week of night closures from Monday (September 16) to Saturday (September 21).
The road will be closed from the A428 roundabout to Bret Road/Stone Hill roundabout from 8pm to 6am each day. It marks the final stages of improvement works in the area, which will connect with infrastructure requirements for the Wintringham and Monksfields developments.
The works include a new roundabout at the Pelham Road junction to replace the existing T-junction. There are also plans for three new junctions to serve the future Monksfields development, along with cycle paths, bus stops and pedestrian crossing points.

Rebecca Britton, from Urban&Civic, one of the developers working with contractor NATTA to complete the works, said: "We are very conscious that this has been a major programme of works and apologise again for the inconveniences caused.
"Pulling everything together into one programme should mean we do not have to do such major works again. We are grateful for residents for bearing with us over the last few months and are glad the end is now in sight.
"These final works would not be possible without a full road closure, as the team need to tie the new aspects into the existing road and that closure is happening at night to reduce the impact on road users. This will only leave the white lines and final touches to happen the following week."
A diversion route will be in place during the closure period. Residents will need to divert along the A428 and circle around Wintringham, using Barford Road and Cromwell Road to rejoin Cambridge Road from the St Neots side.
