New owner takes over canalside pub and ditches car park rule
New owners are in charge at a popular village pub. They have taken over The Shroppie Fly, in Audlem - and immediately ditched the parking system at the Audlem Wharf venue which had left customers with £100 fines.
The new ownership comes as the pub - on the banks of the Shropshire Union Canal - has been named in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2025.
In a social media message to drinkers and diners, the venue stated: "We cannot wait to welcome new and old customers. We have lots of exciting plans in the coming months. You will see the same wonderful staff that you all have come to know and love over the last few years. But one more important note you will all be pleased to know the car parking system has been removed. But please, please can we ask you all not to abuse the car park and then it can continue to be hassle free for all our customers."
