An Ayr cafe is set for a revamp after being taken over by restaurant and takeaway group Tempura.

Thyme on Alloway Street in the town centre was put up for sale in September and has now been acquired.

Tempura, who boast restaurants and takeaways in Prestwick, Ayr, Troon and Kilmarnock, have added to their portfolio but will not bring the cafe under the Tempura brand.

Instead, something “totally different” is in store for the cafe but no details of what this may be have been shared.

Posting on Facebook, the team at Tempura said: “T… is for ‘Thyme for something new’.

“We are delighted to announce we have now taken over the premises known as Thyme in Ayr.

“This will not be a Tempura but something totally different.

“Keep your eyes peeled for exciting updates coming soon.”

Thanking their customers, the team at Thyme said: “We just wanted to say a huge thank you to all our fantastic customers and suppliers for their support over the last year.

“The cafe is closed for now however, we’re excited to announce that a well known local business have taken it over so watch this space.”
