The owners behind an 'iconic' restaurant which is set to be demolished to make way for a car park have taken on a new venue in a Cornish town. Emily and Jon Stephens from the Waterside Meadery in Penzance have announced that they will soon be reopening The Old Lifeboat House.

The couple aim to reopen the bistro on Wharf Road in March 2025 but said this is subject to change. The Waterside Meadery is set to close in April but Emily and Jon will be offering the meadery menu at The Old Lifeboat House when they take it on.

In a post shared on The Waterside Meadery page on Facebook, the couple said: "So as many of you know.. we have secured a new premises.. the plan is to open around late March (could be subject to change depending on circumstances).. its tiny in comparison to our beautiful meadery. We will be offering the Meadery Menu alongside a daytime opening. Go to The Old Lifeboat House Facebook page to see updates..

"Our last night of trading [at The Waterside Meadery] is April 4... We are closed for a private function on March 29. From March 30 to April 4, open as normal but will be running our stock down so if its gone, it's gone... thank you for understanding."

The Old Lifeboat House is a relatively small bistro which is steeped in local history and boasts an unobstructed view of Penzance Harbour and St Michael’s Mount. As the name suggests, the building was used to house the lifeboat for some twenty years to 1907.

The post announcing the reopening of the bistro was met with dozens of positive comments. One person said: "That’s great news! Good Luck, looking forward to forward to visiting."
