Pablo Escobar's brother, Roberto De Jesus Escobar Gaviria, has spoken out about Netflix's security arrangements following the tragic death of a location scout.

Carlos Muñoz Portal, a scout who worked on the likes of Narcos and Fast & Furious, was shot dead while working in Mexico earlier this month.

Details around Portal's death remain unclear, raising the question of whether production for season four of Narcos should continue in Mexico or move back to Colombia.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Escobar's brother Roberto advised that Netflix should hire "hitmen" in order to keep its people safe while on location.

"You have to eliminate all threats," he explained, before insisting that violence was not necessary.

"If you have the intellect, you don't need to use weapons. If not, you have to," he said. "In this case, Netflix should provide hitmen to their people as security."

Reflecting on the issue of filming on location for Narcos – which follows the rise and fall of his brother, the notorious Colombian drug kingpin – Roberto said it was "very dangerous".

"I don't want Netflix or any other film production company to film any movies in Medellin or Colombia that relates to me or my brother Pablo without authorization from Escobar Inc.

"It is very dangerous. Especially without our blessing. This is my country," he added.

Narcos recently debuted its third season on Netflix, and is available to stream now.
