Paddy ‘the Baddy’ Pimblett opened up on a moment he will “never forget” as he gave a career update. The 29-year-old, who hails from Huyton, is currently taking some time off after his victory in UFC 304 in July of this year.

Outside of the cage, Paddy regularly shares updates about his personal life on his YouTube channel and Instagram page. Paddy recently opened up about this on the latest episode of his ‘Chattin' Pony’ podcast. He was joined by fellow MMA fighter Nathan Fletcher.

Nathan, who is from Southport, recently joined the UFC and the pair discussed the highs and lows of their fighting career. Paddy discussed his fights against Julian Erosa in November 2016 which he won.

Paddy admitted he has been impressed with Julian’s performance whenever he has watched the fight back. He has previously spoken about how he needed to make a drastic weight cut in order to be eligible for the fight and said this was in part because he got told about the fight at short notice when his mind was on other things.

Paddy said: “I could say I underestimated him but I got the phone call for that about four weeks before. I was about 84kg. I’ll never forget that.

“I was in some rave in the woods when I got that phone call as well. I was like lad, I'm fighting him in four weeks, I need to get my a*** in the gym.”

Paddy was adamant that he stayed at the rave until the end despite the news. Whereas Nathan never got into the festival scene, Paddy said he was such a big fan he considered music as an alternative career to fighting.

He said: “I'll never forget, the first V Festival all the lads went to, I never went. Eminem was on and I never went because I had a fight like a few weeks later. I was gutted and I made sure the next year that I went to a few festivals when I was 17. I fought in June and then fought in December, so I had the summer off basically.”

During this time, Paddy and his friends went to numerous festivals, including V Festival, Global Gathering, Creamfields. A trip abroad in 2013 sparked his interest further.

Paddy said: “We went to Ibiza and that when we were 18. It took over my life for a bit, I wanted to be a DJ.” Nevertheless, Paddy kept working hard at the Next Generation MMA Gym in Liverpool and soon established a successful fighting career.
