Paddy McGuinness' ex Christine 'secretly resented him' as he left her alone with kids
Paddy McGuinness' ex-wife Christine has admitted she "secretly resented him" when he left her alone with their kids while he enjoyed "holidays and golfing trips". In 2022, the couple parted ways, but continued to live together in an effort to maintain the routines of their three children, who all have autism.
In her 2021 autobiography, Christine McGuinness: A Beautiful Nightmare, the 36-year-old explained that in the early years after the couple had their children, Paddy "carried on" with his holidays. She also opened up about her true feelings about her ex-husband leaving home, and explained that although she would urge him to have a good time on his trips, she was keen to have a little "getaway" herself.
Christine wrote: "For the first five years of having the kids, he carried on having his holidays and golfing trips. I never did, and I didn't have friends to go away with anyway. But I'd always wave him off and say, 'Go and enjoy yourself, have a lovely time'. Secretly, I'd resent him so much. He'd come back with the best tan ever and I'd be exhausted after having the children on my own for that time. I'd think, 'God, I wish I could do that and have a little weekend getaway'.

She continued: "I wanted that freedom so much, but I just didn't have it. I struggled with the whole life he was living because it was not my life; it was his. I was just a wife at home and he had this completely different, separate existence I wasn't part of."
Christine also revealed that a "difficult time" in their marriage prompted her to follow her dreams and find something that was her "own". She would later appear in the Real Housewives of Cheshire.
Christine said "no one" close to her wanted her to join the show, including her husband, with her mum also voicing "concerns" that she would be perceived as a "stereotypical" Cheshire housewife. In her book, she also said that she struggled to "cope" when her then-husband secured a role on Take Me Out, admitting she became isolated and "more introverted" as his profile grew.
However, it would appear Christine wasn't particularly concerned that Paddy would regularly be among 30 single women on the show.
She wrote in her book: "I have to say, I was never really worried about it. The show was all very tongue-in-cheek and fun. He stayed professional all the way through it and even though he could be a bit cheeky at times, he was never flirty."
