A paedophile volunteer Met Police officer has been jailed after admitting he sexually assaulted a child.

Special sergeant Craig Keane, 28, pleaded guilty to nine counts of sexual assault of a child aged under 13.

He was jailed for two years and ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for ten years at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Monday, March 20.

Keane, who worked at a school in Chelmsford, Essex, was also given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

He was charged on Thursday, January 27 following an investigation led by the Sexual Offences Exploitation and Child Abuse Command.

During the process, Keane was suspended as a Special officer.

The Met said: “His case will be subject to a fast track Special Case Hearing where the appropriate outcome will be considered by the hearing panel.”
