Paige Turley and Finley Tapp were named winners of the first ever winter Love Island on Sunday night.

The couple fought off competition from Siânnise Fudge and Luke Trotman, who ended up in second place, Demi Jones and Luke Mabbott, and Jess Gale and Ched Uzor.

Paige and Finn were visibily stunned by their win with the footballer stating: "How the f**k have I blagged that?"

Host Laura Whitmore then explained the final twist, which saw them pick an envelope each at random.

One contained the money (well a card saying so, not the actual cash), while another had nothing.

After picking the envelope with the £50,000 prize, Paige was given a decision: Love or money?

The Scot chose to share the money with Finn, which came as no surprise given that the pair have already decided to move in together and get a dog.

The finale also revealed what the couples had been up to during their final day in the villa and the duo were seen declaring their love for each other.

Finn told his girlfriend: "Paigey Baby, you make me the happiest I’ve been for a long time and I’m so excited for life after Love Island.

"But the one I’m most excited for is moving to Manchester with you."

He then broke down in tears, before continuing: "That’s because I can’t stand the thought of not being with you 24/7.

"My mum told me yesterday you’ve fallen hard haven’t you and I guess mums are right after all.

"You said we should say it when it feels right... Well Paigey, I love you."

An emotional Paige replied: "So Finn, when I look back over the time we’ve spent together, I genuinely cannot believe I came so close to letting go of someone who means so much to me.

"You’ve brought out a side to me that no one has ever seen. You make me laugh every day with your shower singing, dancing and I suppose you’re not that bad a kisser either.

"Thank you for making me a better person. I genuinely feel like the luckiest girl in the world.

"And I believe I am head over heels in love with you."

Jess and Ched were the first couple to find out how they'd place in the viewer vote with Laura Whitmore announcing that they had finished in fourth place.

The couple - who are "exclusive but not official" - spoke confidently of their chances in making it work in the real world, pointing out that they live reasonably close to each other in London.

Demi and Luke M then wound up in third place.

At the start of the show, Whitmore dedicated the finale to the programme’s former host Caroline Flack.

"We’re thinking of her family and everyone who knew her at this time," Whitmore said.

“Caroline loved Love Island, she loved love, and that’s why tonight’s final is dedicated to her.”

A series of clips from Flack’s time hosting Love Island and companion show Aftersun was shown.
