The paint colour that is 'least depressing' and stops you 'feeling sad'
As the chill of autumn sets in, many are bracing for the dark and dreary days ahead. Spending more time indoors during the colder months means creating a cosy and uplifting space is key to maintaining good spirits.
Rob Chadwick, an interior design guru from CGC Interiors, has shared insights on how certain colours can influence your mood, warning that some can make you "feeling sad or withdrawn".
He explained: "Colour psychology can play a big part in our emotional responses, and the colours in your home could lead to you feeling sad or withdrawn. Think about bringing in warm and brighter colours to counter the dark grey days."

According to Rob, hues of yellow and orange are the go-to colours for fostering a sense of joy within your home. He suggests not just considering a fresh lick of paint but also incorporating these cheerful shades through home accessories like cushions and throws.
"Soft yellows and warm oranges are colours often associated with happiness, so experiment with these shades with pillows, blankets and lampshades; to bring warmth into your home," he advised.
To combat the gloom of autumn and winter, Rob has offered four top tips to keep your abode feeling bright and cheery.
Let the light in
One of his key suggestions is to maximise natural light.
"As the nights draw in and the sun sets earlier, it can often feel incredibly dark and depressing," Rob said. "Open your curtains and blinds fully during daylight hours to let the natural light in, and position furniture nearer to windows so you can embrace the natural light to the fullest."
"For more lighting, use mirrors to bounce light around the room and make the room feel bigger."
Welcome in the outdoors
"As temperatures cool down and force us to spend more time indoors, it's important to still spend time in nature. Whilst there aren't any proper substitutes to being in fresh air, indoor plants are a great place to start," he continued.
"Incorporate plants and flowers into your home to help uplift your surroundings and add an aesthetically pleasing and functional touch to your decor."
Create a cosy space to escape
"Cosy spaces to escape to when the darkness of autumn kicks in is a great way to retreat to a safe space on darker evenings. They are the perfect space to settle down and enjoy a hobby or some reading."
"Whether it's a window seat or a comfy chair and a blanket, adding candles and diffusers with uplifting scents can change the mood of the room almost instantly."
Use soft materials
"Creating a cosy, safe atmosphere is a great way to help combat feelings of lowness."
"Place thick rugs on floors of natural materials like wood, stone or tile creates a nice juxtaposition between the hardness of the floor and the comfort of the rug."
"Purchase blankets and cushions and place them on your sofa so you have a space to settle down on an evening to be both cosy and comfortable."
