Paisley sex beast was ‘persistent, predatory and targeted' as he gets jail term

A vile Paisley beast who engaged in behaviour described as “persistent, predatory and targeted” towards young girls has been jailed.

Twisted Robert Young threatened to rape a 14-year-old girl in front of her mum when she stated she didn’t want to have sex with him.

Young told another teenager she should create an OnlyFans account in a bid to make money after commenting on how attractive she was. He “repeatedly asked” her to stay at his house if he bought her alcohol – stating he “wouldn’t want her to go home drunk”.

Sheriff Amel Elfallah slammed twisted Young, stating: “You have pled guilty to offences over a number of years, impacting at least 11 young girls.

“I have had the benefit of a victim impact statement and I commend this girl for writing it as it couldn’t have been easy. I hope she and the other victims find comfort in today’s outcome.”

The beast previously appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court where he admitted a catalogue of sexual offence charges involving 11 female victims.

Between December 2022 and January 2023, at a Paisley primary school, Young kissed and cuddled a 12-year-old girl before he sexually assaulted her.

The court heard that, after the assault, the girl returned to school while Young went home. He later asked the girl for an explicit picture.

The 21-year-old admitted that, on various occasions between August 2019 and February 2023 and for the purposes of “obtaining sexual gratification”, he sent a number of indecent messages to a girl aged nine to 13 years old which commented on how she looked; called her ‘hot’, asked her to be his girlfriend, to go to his house and offered to buy her booze.

Between the same dates, Young also attempted to meet the girl with the intention of engaging in unlawful sexual activity at three addresses in Paisley, knowing she was under the age of 16.

Young, described as an inmate of Polmont prison, targeted two other girls, aged between 13 and 15. He sent sexually explicit images to both girls on social media between November 2021 and February 2023.

He coerced a 15-year-old girl into sending indecent images of herself and tried to meet her and another girl, aged between 14 and 15, with the intention of engaging in unlawful sexual activity.

Young targeted a fifth youngster between March 2022 and January 2023, causing the 14-year-old girl to send him a picture of her in a bikini; he sent her an image of his private parts.

Procurator fiscal dispute Alison McFadyen told the court: “The accused sent an image of his private parts and asked her to send a nude picture. She sent a picture in her bikini which was taken one year prior.”

“He then asked her if she wanted to have sex and, when she said no, said he would rape her in front of her mum.”

A girl aged between 12 and 13 was targeted by Young between May 2022 and February 2023. He asked for nude photographs of her, asked her what she was wearing and offered to buy her cigarettes, vapes, alcohol and clothing.

Young also admitted he was in possession of indecent images of children at his Millarston Drive home between October 2022 and February last year. The court heard two Category C images were found on Young’s mobile phone and featured young girls.

Defence counsel James McCrone told the court Young was “under no illusion that custody is inevitable”.

Sheriff Elfallah caged Young for three years, reduced from four, to reflect the timing of his plea.

His sentence was backdated to his date of remand in February 2023. Young was placed on the sex offenders’ register for an indefinite period.
