Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan has called the 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden a ‘shaheed’ (martyr) while speaking in the country’s Parliament.

Imran can be heard as saying, "We were very embarrassed when Americans came and killed Osama bin Laden at Abottabad and martyred him."

The Al Qaeda spearhead Osama was the brain behind the 9/11 terror attacks on the United States in 2001.

Osama was killed in Abottabad in a military operation by the US Navy Seals in 2011. He had been accused of engineering a number of terror attacks worldwide. Almost 3,000 people lost their lives in the 9/11 terror attack when five passenger planes were used as missiles to attack American cities.

Meanwhile, a US government report on Wednesday blamed Pakistan for continuing to serve as a safe haven for terrorist groups and allowing outfits including the Lashkar-e-Tayyiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed to operate from its territory.
