Rumours of an imminent engagement announcement between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gained even more momentum when bookmakers confirmed they have suspended all bets on an engagement announcement.

And now a spokesperson for the Royal Family has responded to the frenzy of reports to state that they "would not give a running commentary on Harry's love life". They refused to comment further (via Hello!).

Earlier this week, a spokesperson for Ladbrokes said the bookies were bracing themselves for a royal engagement any moment now, telling Mail Online: "Royal watchers would love a Christmas engagement announcement, and as far as we are concerned it's coming imminently."

It comes following reports that the 36-year-old Suits actress has moved out of her Toronto apartment and will be now living permanently in Harry's Kensington Palace residence, Nottingham Cottage.

The actress landed in London a few days ago, and was recently pictured shopping on the King's Road in the city.

There have also been suggestions that Markle and her Suits co-star Patrick J Adams won't be returning to the hit legal drama next year, after recently wrapping season seven.

While their rumoured departures have yet to be officially confirmed, her body double Nicky Bursic recently posted a picture of herself standing next to the actress which she captioned with a heartfelt "goodbye" message – suggesting Markle's departure from the show is happening, and sooner than expected.

"It's been an absolute pleasure and honour being your 'STAND-IN' for the last 2 seasons @meghanmarkle," Bursic captioned the photo, which was later deleted.

But despite all the hysteria, royal expert Katie Nicholl predicts that the couple's announcement won't arrive until next year (via ET). Which would be a pretty wonderful way to start 2018...
