Palestinians Hold Symbolic Funeral for Slain Al Jazeera Journalist

Palestinians gathered at Al Azhar University in Gaza City on Monday, May 16, to hold a symbolic funeral for slain Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh.

Abu Akleh was fatally shot while covering an Israeli raid in the West Bank city of Jenin on May 11.

Footage by video journalist Mohamed Abo Oun shows men carrying a coffin bearing an image of Abu Akleh through a large crowd.

A state service for the Al Jazeera veteran took place at the Palestinian presidential palace in Ramallah on May 12.
