Pamela Anderson posts throwback photos with Melania and Donald Trump after praising ‘leading couple of the people’

It’s not Throwback Thursday, but Pamela Anderson didn’t let that stop her from taking a trip down memory lane. On Monday, the actress and activist posted a series of photos dating back to 2005, when she joined then-newlyweds Donald and Melania Trump for a celebration at the Trump Taj Majal in honor of the future president’s birthday.

Anderson, rocking teased hair and a low-cut white dress in the old photos, tagged the president and first lady in her post, writing, “once upon a time.”

Reaction from Anderson’s followers has been mixed, with some dubbing her a “traitor,” and others calling it “awesome.”

According to an interview Anderson gave in 2018, however, the seemingly chummy relationship caught on-camera was all for show.

“I think it was his birthday,” the Baywatch star told The Hollywood Reporter of the 2005 photo op. “I was hired to be there. We all were paid like $500 a day. He was with a wife — I don’t know which one — but he was nothing special.”

She might be eating those words at the moment. Last Friday, the 52-year-old star — who voted for Jill Stein, not Trump, in 2016, according to that interview — posted an open letter praising the first couple and urging POTUS to issue a pardon for her close friend, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Assange is currently incarcerated at a British prison and has been fighting extradition to the U.S for leaking classified information.

In her letter, Anderson — a passionate supporter of Assange — hailed the Trumps as “the leading couple of the people.”

“You complement each other extremely well, Mr. President with your personal touch and emotional flare [sic] that strikes a chord with the people, together with the enduring poise and presented dignity that the first lady upholds,” she wrote.

“Integrity was certainly the underlying thread that defeated Hillary [Clinton] and brought to the world this great couple, cannoning you into the most powerful position in the world,” she continued. “The people trusted your intent and your judgment because and it was supported by the free press during your campaign. Recalling that it was the free press that in effect stifled and dominated over the fake news rubbish that was so desperately trying to derail your great and successful campaign.”

She went on to link Trump’s success to the “honest journalism” published by Assange and WikiLeaks. She also wrote that Trump is being threatened by the same forces behind Assange’s imprisonment.

“I fear now however that the great leader of the people, the great President Trump, is being drowned in media falsehoods perpetrated by a vindictive and orchestrated media blitz of lies and propaganda,” she added.

Calling Assange’s treatment part of a “conspiracy to destroy your presidency,” Anderson then asked Trump to pardon her friend and block his extradition.

“If you were to pardon Julian Assange and not allow the legal precedent of extradition of a fact-publishing journalist for a life of torture, then the people would salute your action,” she wrote. “You will be forever remembered as the champion you were always destined to be and the people would truly salute you for such a gesture. It would always be remembered as your legacy to the world and the people could never be fooled otherwise.”

The animal rights activist then requested a meeting to discuss the environment, and suggested that the first lady could partner up with Anderson’s foundation on a project to protect endangered species.
