Paraglider Crashes Into Cliff After Collision

A paraglider who crashed into a cliff on the Isle of Arran after a mid-air collision with another flyer has been airlifted to hospital.

The man was left injured and suspended in an inaccessible position at around 4pm on Saturday, while the other paraglider managed to land.

A rescue mission was launched involving the coastguard, a mountain rescue team and a Royal Navy helicopter.

The man was brought to safety at around 8.30pm and was flown to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

Police and the Scottish Air Ambulance service also attended the scene of the incident.

It is not known whether the paraglider who managed to land safely is male or female.
