Paramedics issue statement after couple tumble on Potteries Centre escalator
Paramedics treated an elderly couple after they fell on a shopping centre escalator. An air ambulance landed in Hanley after a man and a woman tumbled on the escalator that leads down from the ground floor of the Potteries Centre to Hanley Market.
They were both taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital by land ambulance for 'precautionary checks' following the incident, which happened at around 2pm today (November 12).
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called to the Potteries Shopping Centre, Market Square at 2.03pm today after reports two people had fallen down an escalator. An ambulance and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Tatenhill attended the scene.

"A woman and man were assessed and treated by ambulance staff before being conveyed by land ambulance to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further precautionary checks."
A spokesperson for The Potteries Centre said: “Two customers were injured following a fall on the escalator whilst in the centre today. Our team together with the BID and market team were on site immediately and supported the emergency services upon arrival and until the lady and gentleman were taken to hospital for further care. The safety of our customers and staff is our top priority and we wish the lady and gentleman a speedy recovery."
