Parents' horror after 31 children on Yorkshire school bus hurt in 'terrible' Yorkshire school bus crash with tractor

Parents have spoken out after 31 children were injured - two seriously - after a "terrible" bus crash in East Yorkshire.

On Wednesday, January 22, the school bus was involved in a crash with a tractor on the A1035 Leas Lane near to Seaton, East Yorkshire, at 3.30pm. Two children, a 15-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, were rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

A further 29 passengers, aged between 11 and 16, suffered minor injuries. An air ambulance also arrived on the scene, but left without any passengers.

Posting to Yorkshire Live sister title Hull Live's Traffic and Travel Facebook group, parents have shared their shock in the aftermath of the crash. Many spoke about how their children were left shook up and terrified, with many left injured.

One said they were there within 10 minutes of the crash. They wrote:One said they were there within 10 minutes of the crash. They wrote: "I was there myself within 10 minutes of happening for my step daughter along with her mum. It was an horrific sight to see for all involved, unfortunately it’s more than just minor injuries for some... No blame from myself is being put on anyone as there’s no investigation been finalised as yet, but I will say the support and team work from all communities around, the amazing people who came together and was there for not just the pupils, drivers, the people who witnessed it, the ambulance crew and police officers, but also the families of all involved , well done to you all and be proud of yourselves".

Another parent wrote about their child's experience, saying: "My children where on the bus behind, I’ve been and picked them up, I think from the sound of things everyone escaped with only minor injury’s. Just a lot of very shaken up children".

One more parent said: "My daughters friends were in the bus. Looks a terrible crash. My thoughts are with the families x".

In particular, a number of parents praised the driver of the bus for his efforts to help the injured children. One person, who said they were one of the parents of the driver, wrote: "My son was the driver and he's in a state of shock and has minor injuries but luckily they all ok with minor injuries".

Then, another parent said: "If so my son was on that bus and my husband and I would like to thank him. Even going through what he went through and his injuries he made sure every child on that bus was ok before himself.

"We have emailed the bus company to thank him. Please send him our thanks and speedy recovery".
