Paris is installing public fountains for FIZZY water around the city
Parisians are about to get a bit of liquid luxury in the shape of public fountains that provide sparkling water – for free.
Locals and tourists in the French capital will soon be able to get their fill of fizz when the fountains are installed across the entire city.
Eight of the installations are already set to go, with the ultimate plan being one fountain in each of the 20 arrondissements, or neighbourhoods.
According to CityLab, the existing fountains have already been tested and have proved a big hit with residents.
It all may sound slightly decadent but French officials say environmental factors are what made them act.

It is hoped that people will fill up with fizzy water at the fountains rather than buying new ones every time – reducing plastic waste.
According to the Earth Policy Institute, France is the world’s eighth biggest consumers of bottled water – making fizzy water fountains something of a necessity to cut waste.
