A mere week since fashion's original enfant terrible, Jean Paul Gaultier, announced he'd be saying à bientôt to the couture runway schedule, he celebrated his last show with aplomb.

Pulling out the big guns, the 67 year-old fashion veteran called in models from both past and present, alongside some other famous faces, to appear in his couture swan song.

Sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid walked twice each at the Paris Théâtre du Châtelet. Older sister Gigi, 24-years-old, donned a plissé sailor-esque ensemble, one of Gaultier's most enduring motifs.

Bella, 23-years-old, wore a naked dress, featuring black lace embellishments over white organza.

Irina Shayk wore Gaultier's most recent redesign of the cone bra (first realised around 1983, recreated for Madonna's Blonde Ambition tour in the 1990s and continually reimagined throughout his career), while Winnie Harlow's Garden of Eden-style bodysuit nodded to Gaultier's regular permutations of religious iconography in his work.

However, our favourite supermodel moment had to be Karlie Kloss puckering up into her magnifying glass.

Boy George, who walked Gaultier's SS93 runway, performed at the extravaganza, singing on the stage studded with supermodels.

And, to top it all off, the show had a sustainability message.

The BBC reports Gaultier named the event his, 'first upcycling haute couture collection'.

'In my first show and this, my last, there are creations made with the jeans I've worn,' he said.

'It's the most beautiful of materials. Like a lot of humans, it becomes even more beautiful as it gets older.'

'Goodbye to the spanking new, hello to the spanking old!' Gaultier concluded.

Fans and friends, like Coco Rocha, flooded to social media to praise the frenchmen's almost final hurrah.

We say almost.

Whilst his role as a couturier may be over, Gaultier has announced his new AW20 jewellery collection named, Atelier Swarovski x Jean Paul Gaultier, so we see a sparkly future for the OTT bad boy of fashion.
