Paris’ most famous footballers have scored with a new wardrobe courtesy of Dior.
Spanning formal to casualwear, and even some accessories, the capsule designs made in a new collaboration between the renowned football team and iconic French luxury brand have arrived.
Predominantly black and navy, the collection includes staples with sophisticated edges. A Harrington jacket stands out, while a knitted sweater and easy polo shirt come with PSG patches and the ‘CD ICON’ initials, together making up the more relaxed designs.
For the formal get-up, cashmere coats come with suit jackets, while shirts and trousers are enhanced with subtle detailing like PSG logo embroidery. The looks are finished off by Dior Explorer Derbies, with insoles embossed with each player’s jersey number, and black saddle bags in a grained calfskin leather; a bag that dates back to 1999, when John Galliano first introduced it to the house, which has since been reinterpreted into a menswear classic by Jones.
During a film following PSG players being fitted and posing in the new designs, Presnel Kimpembe, a centre-back player, explains the purpose of the smarter outfit; “it’s to put on before every match, especially important ones.”
In the same video Marco Verratti, who plays central midfield, says “Paris has become something wonderful in football,” before continuing, “Dior is one of the best brands out there, and we are really happy with this collaboration.”
Jones’ first collection for Dior was shown in June 2018, and since the British designer has proved himself to be a master of collaboration. Mostly recently, for SS22, he worked with rapper Travis Scott for a cacti crazy collection, while other notable partnerships have included Daniel Arsham and Shawn Stussy. What comes next? It’s anyone’s guess.
