Parking distraction theft prompts CCTV appeal

Police are investigating after a distraction theft at a pay and display machine. Surrey Police said it happened as the victim was attempting to pay for parking in Leatherhead.

A CCTV image has now been released of a man officers want to speak to as part of the investigation. The incident happened on Church Street between 9 and 10am on Wednesday, November 13.

Officers also want to speak to anyone who saw what happened at the pay machine or who was around Church Street at the time.

An appeal shared by Surrey Police said: "Do you know this man? We would like to speak to him in connection with an on-going investigation into a distraction theft in Leatherhead.

"The offence occurred on Wednesday, 13 November on Church Street between 9 and 10am whilst the victim was attempting to pay for parking. Officers would like to speak to the man in this CCTV image or anyone who knows him.

"They would also like to speak to anyone who might have witnessed an incident at the pay machine or who was in the vicinity of Church Street at this time."
