Every Saturday at the stroke of 9am, thousands across Merseyside embark on their parkrun journey. The events have seen a surge in participation over recent years, becoming an integral part of the weekend for many.

These runs are not just confined to Liverpool; they are a global phenomenon, happening in parks and spaces far and wide. Organisers champion the events as a "positive, welcoming and inclusive experience" where time doesn't matter, no one's the last finisher, and all are welcome - be it runners, joggers, walkers, spectators, or helpers.

Here's how you can get involved with some of the top spots for Parkrun in Liverpool, with options further afield included.

What is Parkrun?

It is a free weekly run held every Saturday morning at parks and other locations across the UK. Each is three miles or five km long and runners - or walkers - or all paces and abilities are welcome to take part. There are currently 1,296 parkrun events around the country taking place every weekend, with more locations being added all of the time

How much does Parkrun cost?

It's totally free. If you want, you can just turn it up and run it without registering.

However, if you register on the website, you will be given an individual barcode. Take that along, and your times will be recorded each time you do it at whatever Parkrun you go to across the UK or beyond.
