Parsons Green Tube attack: Police release two men arrested in connection with the blast

Police have released two men arrested in connection with the Parsons Green terror attack.

A 48-year-old man arrested in Newport, South Wales on Wednesday, and a 21-year-old male - understood to be Yahyah Farroukh - arrested on Saturday, have been released with no further action, Scotland Yard said.

The 21-year-old was arrested in Hounslow, West London, at 11.50pm on Saturday evening, and a warrant for his further detention granted by Westminster Magistrates’ Court until Thursday, when he was released.

Officers are continuing to question four people, including a 17-year-old boy, in connection with the explosion, which injured 30 people.

The teenager was detained after officers raided what neighbours described as a “halfway house” in Thornton Heath, south London, at around 12.05am on Thursday.

The investigation into the rush-hour bombing has also seen two men aged 25 and 30 detained in Newport, south Wales, and an 18-year-old man detained at the port of Dover.

Commander Dean Haydon, head of the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command, said: “This continues to be a fast-moving investigation. A significant amount of activity has taken place since the attack on Friday.

"Detectives are carrying out extensive inquiries to determine the full facts behind the attack.

“We anticipate that the searches will take some days to complete and may cause further disruption. However, it is important that we continue with these searches and I'd like to thank all those affected for their support, patience and cooperation.”

He urged the public to report any suspicious activity in confidence by calling 0800 789 321 or dialling 999 in an emergency situation.

“We are asking the public to look out for anything that seems out of place, unusual or just doesn't seem to fit in with day-to-day life. It may be nothing, but if you see or hear anything that could be terrorist-related, trust your instincts, then act, and call us.”

Searches at two addresses in Newport where arrests were carried out are understood to be continuing.

A police search of an address in Surrey is now complete.
