Part of the A27 will be closed until next week while construction of a new roundabout takes place.

The highway will be fully closed westbound between the Old Shoreham Road junction and Hoe Court from 8pm today (Friday, March 24).

Roadworks will be taking place on the main carriageway over the course of the weekend to build the new roundabout, which will give access to the New Monks Farm development and provide better links to Shoreham Airport.

A fully signed diversion will be in place westbound from the Shoreham Bypass A283 Steyning Road to the A24 from Offington Corner via Washington roundabout.

The road will not reopen until 6am on Monday, March 27, with a second closure planned later this month.

The project is expected to last until May and is being carried out in stages to keep traffic moving and disruption to a minimum.
