Although we've entered the last month of winter, the freezing conditions haven't let up yet with more snowfall forecasted on the horizon. Large areas of England could experience a powdering next week with temperatures falling well below freezing.

Weather maps from WX Charts show snow arriving on the morning of Monday, February 17, in the southeast of England from the English channel. By 12pm, the mass of snow will then stretch from the southeast, up to East Anglia, the East Midlands and across to the West Midlands, covering Birmingham and Worcester, according to wxcharts.com.

Parts of the East Midlands and Yorkshire will still be covered by snow as of 6pm before the mass continues east and northwards. Light sprinkles of snow are set to return on Tuesday and Wednesday (February 18 and 19).

At the same time, WX Charts has predicted icy temperatures. The lowest temperatures have been predicted for the southeast of England, with areas south of London forecasted to be around -5C and -6C at 12am on February 18. Areas of the Midlands are set to be at around -2C and -3C at this time.

In its long range forecast from Saturday, February 8, to Monday, February 17, the Met Office warned of the "risk of wintry showers" in the latter half of this period. The Met Office said "the risk of wintry showers increases with a risk of some sleet or snow falling more widely for a time, but still with some sunshine in between".

The forecaster added: "Temperatures will likely be a few degrees below average with some hard frosts and the wind may make it feel much colder at times."
