Passenger Praises Driver's Dedication as Taxi Stalls in Chennai Floods

Floodwater has inundated the streets of the Tamil Nadu city of Chennai as the India Meteorological Department said “extremely heavy” rain would continue through to Thursday, November 11.

The Times of India said the city saw over 21.53 cm of rainfall on Saturday night, shutting down most public transport services.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the central government would extend “all possible assistance in rescue and relief operations”.

Twitter user @DrSid_Heart posted this footage he recorded in the back of a taxi on Monday, showing the driver attempt to navigate the streets before stalling in the pooled water. The doctor nonetheless praised the “dedication” of his “very helpful” driver. Credit: @DrSid_Heart via Storyful
