Passenger Reports 'Chaos' at Madrid Airport as Snow Disrupts Travel

A traveler described the scene at Spain’s Madrid-Barajas Airport as “chaos” on January 12, after snow from Storm Filomena caused disruption to air travel and left some passengers stranded for several days, according to reports.

This footage, by Mauro Arancio, shows long lines in Terminal 4, prompting Arancio to voice concerns about the spread of COVID-19.

Europa Press reported that 117 flights from the airport were canceled on January 11.

Aena, the airport’s operator, said operations were gradually returning to normal by January 12, but warned passengers to avoid the airport until flights were confirmed by their airline.
