Passengers Gather in Auditorium Amid Report of Fire on Cruise Ship

Passengers on board the Pacific Adventure cruise ship off the coast of Sydney, New South Wales, gathered in an auditorium after a report of a fire in the early hours of Sunday, May 28.

Pictures taken by James Frendo shows passengers in the ship’s auditorium, some still wearing red life jackets.

In an update at 3:30 am local time, Frendo can be seen sitting in the auditorium. A voice on the loudspeaker can be heard telling passengers to take off their life jackets as they enter the hall.

In another update at around 4:00 am, Frendo says the fire is out.

A spokesperson for P&O Cruises Australia told 9News: “This fire activated our emergency response procedures including a full muster of guests and crew and we thank everyone on board for their cooperation.”

There were no reports of injury, the spokesperson added. The damage and cause of the fire are under investigation.
